Verse of the day:"This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. " 1 John 4:9 NIV

Random thought of the day: y:O  I must still have a powerful inner-child, because I not-so-secretly still love cartoons.  Even though I"m almost thirty now, I still laugh when I watch old episodes of bugs bunny with my dad, and Phineas and Ferb marathons with Jen never fail to bring me joy.  I think sometimes, compared to all the immorality and drama of adult television, the simplicity and cute humor of cartoons is a nice change sometimes.  And after all, cartoons are written by adults, so some of the humor SHOULD apply to me... right?

Truth or Myth?:  "Giant clams have been known to trap divers and drown them." (Yesterday's answer: Myth. Although Revere worked as a dentist between 1768 and 1775, fabricating a full set of dentures was beyond his ability.")

ScaryFact:  "Exposure to secondhand smoke causes disease and premature death in those who don't smoke, as cigarette smoke contains hundreds of toxic or carcinogenic chemicals like fermaldehyde, arsenic, ammonia, and hydrogen cyanide."

Verse of the Day: "Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39 NIV

Random thought of the day: I get attached to our family cars.  My dad has had this red Toyota Solara for over ten years now, and last week this stupid teenager bashed into the back of it when my mom was driving.  The damage costs more to fix then the car is worth, so the insurance company decided to total it.  There's probably something psychologically skewed about anthropomorphizing everything, but I can't help it. I"m going to miss old red. She was a beauty...

MLS of the day: "Today I was with my boyfriend and I said that I was self-conscious of my acne. He told me that only one of my zits was noticeable and that it wasn't so bad. In fact, he said it looked cool, like a bullet wound or something "awesome" like that. FML."

Truth or Myth?:  "Paul Revere crafted a set of dentures for George Washington." (Yesterday's answer: "True. In 1933, President FDR signed an executive order allowing the seizure of all gold held by citizens and businesses." )

Urban Dictionary: 1=1+3: Witty urban expression meaning that two people having sex create a third person; one plus one equals 3.

Verse of the Day: "You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all of your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13)

Book Review:  I'd give this one a 7 on the awesomeness scale: the first two hundred pages were great, but the ending was a disappointment.  Basically the story of a girl who comes over to America from Hong Kong with her mother, and finds out the American dream is not at all what she had thought it would be.  She and her mother have to learn to survive harsh living conditions, and endless low-paying factory work.. in order for her to hopefully get an education and live a better life than her mother.  Paints a great picture of what it would be like to experience America as an outsider, and how hard it must be to have to work your way up from the bottom.  Throughout the story the girl ends up being brilliant in school and gaining a scholarship to both a private high school and her dream college (Yale). Unfortunately, the "love story" that is also part of her journey contained immorality, so it loses points in my book. No one wants to read that crap.

Truth or Myth?:  "The U.S. govenment once passed anorder to confiscate all privatly owned gold."

ScaryFact:  "At the Middle Tennesee District Fair in Lawenceburg, a sixty-year-old woman was severely injured when she fell thirty feet from the top of a ferris wheel and landed on the spokes closest to the center wheel axle.  Witnesses told investigators that she was standing up and waving right before she fell from the gondola."

Verse of the Day: "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18 NIV "
Random thoughts of the Day: So yesterday I recieved the BEST suprise- turns out one of my friends (he wants to keep it kinda secret so I cant name names) who has been out of the country since the summer, is coming home for a visit over Easter.  I have missed him WAY more than I expected to, and am so excited to see him and give him a big hug!! You never realize how much you're going to miss someone until they're gone, and I hope I can do something really special to let him know how much I love him while he's here. Yay for suprises!!

MLS of the day:  "Today, I wanted to take my girlfriend to a nice meal before prom. Her parents followed her in, and joined us to "keep an eye on me." They interrupted all our conversation, at an expensive meal, then got up and walked out when the waitress brought the $95 check, leaving me to pay the bill. MLS."

Truth or Myth?: (Yesterday's answer: Myth. Gum, like most other things we ingest, will be expelled by the body in a few days.)

ScaryFact: "Ascariasis, the potentially deadly disease cause by the roundworm, is the most common worm-related infection found in humans. Symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, and wheezing result from roundworm larvae infesting the lungs. The larvae then migrate to the intestines, where they grow to resemble foot-long earthworms."

Urban Dict: 10-4: Code used by police or other 10-code using services, meaning "message recieved" or "I understood your transmission."

Verse of the Day: The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:9-10 NIV

Random thought of the day: So I've decided that attraction is more complicated for me than simply someone looking good. Last night this nice looking guy at karoake kept telling me how "sexy" I was, and how "amazing" my eyes were, but I felt nothing, because I didn't know him.  Compliments really only have value if you value the person's opinion, and how can you do that if you don't know them at all? I couldn't feel anything for him either, even when he hugged me before leaving, because time together and personality are love-determiners for me, both of which I didn't have.  Love at first sight must be a myth... at least for me.

MLS: "Today I learned from the noise outside my window that construction workers start their days at 5am. MLS."

Truth or Myth?: "Gum swallowed will take years to digest." (Yesterday's answer: Myth. This false rumor began when a film circulated featuring an actress who looked suspiciously similar to Babs.")

ScaryFact:  "Workplace injuries come at a high cost to employers. According to a 2007 Workplace Safety Index from Liberty Mutual insurance, the most disabling injuries cost U.S. employers over 48.3 billion in workers compensation claims."

Urban Dict: 10 Minutes ago= out of style. "That hat is so ten minutes ago."

Verse of the day: Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:11-12 NIV

Random thought of the day: Ever since Katya came to visit (from Ukraine), I've found myself wondering what foreigners must think when they come to our country for the first time.  Obviously I have not had this experience, but I can't help but think how LOUD America must seem sometimes.  We have sounds and stimulation coming at us CONSTANTLY- cell phones buzzing, tv's and radios blaring, people shouting, alarm clocks going off... Perhaps we also seem a little decadent too... depending on what the conditions are like in the country the person comes from... America has a reputation for being filthy rich... I never quite know how reliable this assessment is...  Anyways, just something I was thinking about.

MLS of the day:  "Today, I lent my sister $1,000 because she and her husband were in some debt. They used the money to go gambling in Vegas and won a major jackpot. They won't even give me a cut. MLS."

Truth or Myth?:  Barbra Streisand starred in an adult film. (Yesterday's answer: Myth.  Despie being a widely debated topic, flouride in water is not due to pressure from drug company interest groups.)

ScaryFact: t:  "Beer goggles aren't just a myth. People do appear more attractive after a few drinks, according to researchers at the University of Bristol, in England. Students who had consumed alcohol rated pictures of people their own age as being more attractive than did participants who had no alchohol."

Urban Dictionary: 10 feet= the length of a pole that is sometimes needed to touch unsightly or repugnant objects or people.
